I am currently a student at Berkeley, and once I graduate I want to get an M.D. and, after that, a law degree. This will allow me to be a very effective patent lawyer and work for pharmaceutical companies. But, exactly how long will this take?

Thanks

Depends on what your current degree is in.
4 years college(yours, already)
prerequisites classes for MD and JD 2-3 years if not incorporated into your studies right now
4 years MD
at least 3 years residency for MD
3years law school

I would suggest pharmacy school instead. Also 4 years, but no required residency, and you'll know more about drugs than an MD
