For me, I usually notice the beat and sound of the song first. If I like that I'll listen to it again and try and get the meaning of it. But if it's an artist like Bob Dylan (who is known for his lyrics), I pay more attention to the words. What about you?

It's usually the tune that I 'hear' first. A good intro always grabs me! Then the lyrics, then the greater details of the song as a whole.

But sometimes, the lyrics will leap out at me, demanding to be heard.

TOTAL EDIT: (yes, I'm a little off at night)

When I listen to a song, usually the first thing that catches me is it's beat. I usually hear the rhythm of the song first and then notice the voice (without the lyrics). During a first listen I hardly ever listen to the lyrics, that just a secondary layer that always comes later. However, if it's a folk song, I probably will listen to the the lyrics more than the instrumentals.

The music of course. After all, it's what draws you in. I generally don't pay attention to lyrics, unless I know the lyrics are from a strong lyricist, in which case I would begin to pay attention to the lyrics after I've listened to the song several times.

When i first listen to a song, its def the tune like most people. But then i kinda get hooked to lyrics bringing me. Usually the bridge or start of the chorus :):) I do prefer the tune all in all.

when i listen to a song, i listen to the beat, rhythm, and lyrics, but all at different parts of the song, so i can learn how the artist decides to put different things in the music.

it the beat that gets me first, it ables me to decide if i like the song/band/artist. Then ill listen to the lyrics, and if its meaningful lyrics, then it makes the song all the better

I'm definitely attracted to the tune first.
If I don't like the tune, I'm not going to listen long enough to pay any attention to the lyrics!

The beat and rhythm catch my attention, then the lyrics keep me interested.

Music is always first with me. I really hate it though, when a song with good musicianship turns out to have stupid lyrics. That ruins the whole vibe.
