the answer is given 1.25 M but how do I get that?

just remember that molarity is equal to 1 mol/1 liter

this is how you would set up your stoichiometry:
50.0 g NaOH/1Liter*1mol/40.0 g NaOh=1.25 mol/L or 1.25 M

(50 g) / (40 g/mol.) = 1.25 mol.
1.25 mol. solute per 1.00 L solvent = 1.25 M
