Nintendo systems (most notably cartridge based) are well known for durability and longevity. I have had the Original gameboy since its launched and it still works for me (I still use it on occasion to play Ducktales since the Nintendo DS doesn't play it and I got rid of my GBA. From the current console generation, it is really hard to say.

If the question is about the current console market, my cop out answer is the Nintendo DS. The system is very durable, I've never ran into dead cell issues despite the fact you use a stylus on the second screen. Since it is rom based, everything loads just as fast as the old nintendo consoles.

Why not the 360? Great library, but as hardware it is not durable.
Why not the PS3? Durable and runs great, but can't say the same for most of the games for it right now, despite it possibly being a superior console.
Why not the Wii? I personally own one and ran into some CPU issues after allowing WiiConnect24 to run constantly. Also there have been a lot of different types of games for the Wii that has come out, but it is unknown if more games will go beyond simple waggle gameplay.

Xbox 360 owners still cannot admit the truth. How in the world can a Xbox 360 run better when it has ruined game discs, and has hardware failure? The first Xbox only lasted for 4 years and the Xbox 360 will most likely only last the same amount of time. The first Xbox may have been durable, but in terms of longevity, it didn't last long. The PS2 came out before the first Xbox and it's still going strong.

The PS3 is the console with the best durability. It's hardware failure rate is less than 1%. The PS3 has the most advanced technology so in terms of longevity, it is the superior console. And the PS3's run the best because it is a quiet console and the fan hardly ever spins fast, and the PS3 has the best reliablility.

the worst console is the ps3 don't depend on sony. i'd say the competition is between nintendo's wii and microsoft's xbox 360 if ur older and like good graphics then i suggest the 360 and if u prefer amazing gameplay then i suggest the wii. I have the wii and the gameplay is amazing. But its really ur choice.
