I'm 21 & pregnant with my first. Well, I want to go back to finish my senior year of college after my baby is born. The semester starts 1 month after she's due. Do u think that 3 weeks to a month is to early to go back after my baby is born?

Thanks for ur answers!! =)

Yes. I have a babysitter. My bf's mom is a housewife, so she'll be keeping her during the day, while I'm at school.

As long as YOU have the energy and a trustworthy babysitter then you will be fine. I started work at a brand new job 3 weeks after having my first and 3 days after having my second I went back to work.

So it is all up to you and how you feel and how you feel about daycare for your baby.

Good luck!

I do because there's so much development during this time that you'll regret not seeing and being a part of
also I'm a real big promoter of breast feeding and holding your baby while you're doing it, you'll never know a peace like the one you feel when you watch your baby feed at your breast, it's beautiful (you'll be sore at first but it will go away in a few days)
But I guess that depends on your life and what you can do
Do you have someone who will actually love and bond with your baby to care for him/her, instead of some one who's paid to just watch him/her
can you or do you think you'll go back to college if you take a year off,
what financial options will you have during/after your break
once you have a baby I believe it's mostly about sacrifice, you do what you have to do to love and take care of your baby and sometimes it's hard and there's not a choice that's easy and everybody WILL have an opinion but you should just pray and do whatever you have peace with
well i hope that helps
Congratulations and God bless

Giving birth is physicallly exhausting for many women. Sometimes they need a long time to fully recover. Not every woman is ready to jump right back to work or school because they are physically or emotionally (or both) not ready. Plus, you may naturally be attached to your child for quite some time. I would think one month is definitely too soon, but ultimately it depends on how you feel during that time. I know you have to make your decision before school starts, so you won't have that luxury.

Also, you may want to consider childcare. Will there be someone at home to take care of your baby while you're at school?

Good luck with everything, and congratulations in advance!

I went back to school when my son was 5 weeks old. You won't be able to take her to a daycare that young but if you have someone to take her to that you trust I'm sure SHE'll be just fine. Babies that young rarely have separation anxiety and adjust to new faces well, especially if it's the same face everyday. You on the other hand, are going to be exhausted, but you can do it. The longer you put it off the harder it will be to make yourself go back to school. Try hard to get a good start on breastfeeding (if that's what you planned to do) those first 3 weeks because switching her to a bottle that early could be a little confusing (once I had to introduce my son to a bottle it got a lot harder to get him to breastfeed). You can defenitely do it, you're just going to need to really buckle down and learn the fine art of multi-tasking. good luck!

No it's not too early to go back to school. By then you will know your baby's sleep and meal schedule. If you are breast feeding you can pump milk and store it for the sitter. your baby is a life long commitment but school will help you make your future and baby's future better. Start preparing now by considering possible baby sitters, check out if your school is close to a day care or has one on campus, see if there are programs for student parents etc. Life goes on. do your best to make your dreams come true. Everything will work out fine.

You can try, but honestly, you will probably be a sleep walking zombie for the first 2 months after your baby. It's not unheard of, but you need to know that you will be seriously sleep-deprived and still healing after 3 weeks to a month. I went back to work at 6 weeks with my first and it was awful.

I don't want to discourage you from finishing your senior year, that is really, really important. However, can you wait another term or take a very light load?

Yeah, you could still go back to school. it will help you and your baby out in the long run. When you have a regular job you only get 6 weeks, so it's not that much different. I wouldn't feel guilty about it. Good Luck and Congratulations!

110% yes. Go back to school in a year or so. Over here in australia you can go back and do the equivilant of your HSC in either 6months or 1 year. You can defer and do it later. Do rush back in you will regret it. school will always be there but your baby is only a baby for a short time and he or she will need you!! Also, who will be raising your baby when you are at school?? The poor thing will only be a month old!! You may not realise, as its your first but babies are so important and take up so much of your time. Please don't put yourself or baby through this! Its too much, too soon.

It will be hard. But you can do it. One month is not a lot of time to recover and get back to being you. If you have help,(husband, family, friends) it will be easier. Leaving your child at day care is scary for first time moms and some will not take children that young. Hope you enjoy you little one.
