Half the sky at my house will turn to this bright orange at night because I live near a city. Does your part of the sky glow or is it completely dark at night?
I'm not talking about the northern lights. Although, I can see them sometimes here in Tennessee.

Oh yeah, it's possible to see them here. Take a look at these pictures.

Where I live, is outside the Kansas City area and way past the suburbs surrounding it. I'm out in the sticks with plenty of acreage surrounding me and the nearest house is a mile away. So, no orange haze from the greater metro area, just darkness and beautiful huge skies full of shiny bright stars and constellations. It's the best view ever.
By the way, that northern light photo from Tennessee... Glorious!

Yes, it gets like that here sometimes due to the city lights. It's kinda cool, actually. I like it when the moon is on the horizon. It doesn't really make the sky orange, but the orange colour of the moon, and the way it looks so close to Earth, is absolutely beautiful.

Depends on the cloud cover and the angle of the sun setting.
An overcast night in a city, the city lights bounce off the clouds. If its partly cloudy, the sun can hit clouds through the clear parts of the sky and change them all kinds of colors. Pink to flame orange.
Then there's times at dusk when the sun bounces off white clouds directly overhead and everything has a peach cast to it.

If you see the Northern Lights in Tenn you had better unplug everything as fast as you can and leave them unplugged until the lights stop or run the risk of damage because of the spikes coming off the electric grid
