I don't know if you can sue them (and win). You'll spend more money on attorneys fees than it will be worth and you may not win. Just let that go. You can get fired in the private sector for any or no reason at all. If you worked for a government organization it might be a little different. Just chalk it up to experience and you now know you really can't trust anyone, especially with something like that. What they did was wrong (fuel theft), even if it was known about. I know what you mean though and it's easy to fall into. You see someone take office supplies home and you say, hey I guess it's no big deal...but you know it's wrong. It seems like a small thing, but next time your in that situation just ask yourself if the small gain of saving money on gas is worth losing your job. Everyone's been there with decisions like that in their job so you're not the only one. The economy is tough now and companies are cutting back wherever possible, so they won't let things like that slide as much. Good luck.

Unless you specifically have an employment contract, in writing or are a member of a labor union, you can be terminated at any time, for any reason, or for no reason at all.
Unless you can specifically prove discrimination due to race, or age or disability, you will be wasting your time suing anybody.
