A friend of mine is 18 years old. He wants to get married to his 15 year old girlfriend. He just proposed to her and their in love. Sexual relations aside, what will it take for them to get married in Washington State, or surrounding Northwest states?
I don't want any BS replies and answers, no calling him a pervert, or child molester. No idiot comments is all I'm saying.
Is it possible for them to get married under the law? With or without parental consent?
Now please answer my question, my question is not should they, but how can they. They don't need YOUR opinion about it, or your advice relating to shoulds, and should nots, they simply want to know if it's possible, and how it's possible.

No, there is no state that will allow them to marry without her parents consent AND a judges ruling. At 16 or 17 she would only need her parents consent. At 18 she can do as she pleases. That is the law.

Young love can be a very powerful thing and makes two people make many "dumb" decisions. There is no possible way for the 15 year old to get married without a parent's consent. The smart thing to do is to wait. There is nothing wrong with them staying together to a point. The 15 year old needs to at least finish high school. An education is one of the most important things this country has to offer and that person will be a better person in the long run. If nothing else, it will teach that person to not throw something so valuable away. The 18 year old needs to encourage this, get established with a career to provide for the 15 year old, etc. In other words, don't let them make a "dumb" decision. Encourage them to be "SMART" and encourage each other to prepare for their life together in a later time.

In Washington state you have to be 18 to marry without parental consent. Look up usmarriagelaws.com. The laws are listed in alphabetical order by state. I would also look at the age of consent sight. This also varies state to state.

Well there both still very young. The the boy is practically a young adult while the girl is still a young teenager. Perhaps if they wait the girl could be 18 an the boy could be 21 maybe that would be a much reasonable age to marry at.Hope this helps :) p:s i don't think its leagal for a 15 and 18 year old to marry.

OK here is one way and what I feel is the only way. IF they truly love one another and wish to spend the rest of their lives together. Then they should both wait until she is at least 18yo so that there is no problems at all. She needs to finish school and graduate cause they will both need incomes to raise children and plan for the future.3 years is not long when you think of how many years they would be married.

Well I hate it when people judge me, and I don't know them or anything, but I have nothing to say to that except I'm glad they found love so early, its a gift. But yes, if you're under the age of 18 you can get married but you need parental consent...

Sorry but they are BOTH too young and too immature. No parent in their right mind would sign off to a 15-year-old getting married...period. Love is NOT what you think it is at 15 or 18 and takes years to develop and mature.
It just won't be possible unless the girl's parents are dumb enough to actually sign off on such a thing.

If you were a real friend you would be encouraging them to wait until the girl was out of high school. Most marriages that begin at this age, fail. If you cared about them, you'd actually do something to help them out.
Sorry if you don't like my answer, but its the best advice they will get. Remember that.

My nephew was 18 and his girlfriend was 16. They wanted to get married but her parents said absolutely not. Now, Im not sure if your friends girlfriend is pregnant or not but in the state of Georgia, if they go to court and the girl is pregnant, and they have proof...the judge will sign for them. You can do a search for states that allow minors to get married and it use to pull up every state and how old you have to be and the circumstances. Hope this helps.

I think she would have to have the parental consent since she's under 18
