If you want to go by lineup the Tigers annihilate the Yankees. Verlander isn't due for a sophomore slump because last season was his sophomore year. The Tigers have not only assembled a better team than the Yankees and Redsox but, a younger one. Granderson, Cabrera, Verlander, Wilis, Roberston, and Bonderman are all high caliber players under the age of 30. The whole team has World Series experience. I think the trade was great for both sides. The Tigers get the second best third basemen in baseball (A-Rod) and a quality pitcher with a huge upside. The Marlins get the two of the top ten prospects in baseball so they can rebuild. Everyone wins metaphorically. Tigers win 100. Oh yeah, Polanco will hit second not Renteria. If you don't can't figure that out you don't know baseball.

Before I answer, Sky Verlander would have had to have his sophomore slump last year as he was pitching two years ago when the Tigers went to the series.

I don't know about best line up in baseball, but this is a trade where both teams are winners. The Tigers get people that will immediately address their issues and aren't old timers that will be done in a couple of years. The Marlins get to unload salary and get lots of good prospects to build around so they can win the world series in 2009. That seems to be the trend.

Myabe best lineup. Rodriguez isnt what he use to be, can Sheffield rebound from injury and be good again? Can Guienn mak etransition to firstbase, will Renteria disapoint in the American League again? Will Polonco really put up numbers identical or even close to last year? Is Dontrele Willis a number 1 2 starter or an average 4 5 starter? Will Jermey Bonderman figure it out? Is Verlander in for a sophmore slump? The 2008 Tigers should be interseting!

Cabrera is the enormous seize - he ought to post huge numbers with a stable lineup around him/ Dontrelle is going to crash and burn in the AL - he have been given to stand susceptible NL lineups and performed in a canyon for a ballpark. he ought to no longer escape with walking 4 batters in line with 9 in the AL. he will lose 15 video games and function an era over 5. i do no longer know lots approximately different potentialities Marlins gained, yet Andrew Miller could have a superb season - for all the justifications that Willis won't- and Miller is a greater desirable pitcher besides. He ought to win 15 video games if he gets any form of run help in Florida.

Bad for the Marlins but good for the Tigers. I still say they look good on paper but they still haven't played one game & that's when we see if this line up blends together but seeing how Detroit usually chokes & ends up losing division to Cleveland, I won't be impressed unless Detroit wins it all, which I have my doubts. An awesome line up means nothing unless you win.

no doubt about it. just look at it. their lineup includes:

1) curtis granderson - great lead off man
2) edgar renteria - could also be a leadoff man
3) magglio ordonez - one of best hitters in baseball
4) miguel cabrera - an elite slugger
5) gary sheffield - the old timer can still slug it. now he's a DH and doesnt have to worry about defense
6) carlos guillen - i can't believe he'll have to hit so low in the lineup
7) placido polanco - i would love to have him at the number 2 spot, but renteria is too much of a threat on the bases not to have him there
8) jacque jones - he's a slightly above average hitter and could be one of the mlb's top number 8 hitters
9) what a great way to end your lineup with pudge rodriguez, one of the top defensive catchers of all time. he's a decent hitters and can really get hot when you need him to

thats drippin

Yes the Tigers lineup is EASILY the best in Baseball....for the guy that thinks Willis is an avg pitcher u are a nut..yes his ERA was 5.17 last yr..but coming to Comerica it will drop back down into the 3.90-4.10 range the Tigers have the best defensive team in baseball, that will help his era.....

I am totally geeked.

Dombrowski is a genius!

I really hated to give up Maybin, but Dave wants to win now, and this is the way to do it.

I feel for Brandon Inge though, he will likely be traded. Poor guy has been through some pretty rough years here in Detroit and he deserves to wear that WS ring.

The Tigers might now be the team to beat in the AL.

I have a very good friend that LOVES the Tigers... he lives in Florida... I live in Illinois.

I am a die-hard Cubbies fan... I told him he is f*cking lucky...

Tigers, Yanks and Sox are the teams to beat in the AL next year.
