but she didn't stay overnight in the hospital. She said they didn't do a D&C on her. Is this possible?

yes its possible because if the miscarriage happened spontaneously and all the tissue came out on its own she wouldn't need a d'n'c and therefore could go home to let nature take its course. She should be going back to the doctor soon though to get checked out.

best of luck

Yes, it is possible. If you are before something like 9 weeks there really isn't much there for your body to flush. I have had both very early miscarriages and also a 9 1/2 week miscarriage. All the early miscarriages I never needed to stay over night, nor even have a D&C. My 9 1/2 week one was incomplete and that is when I needed the D&C to remove the placenta which was left. THAT one, I stayed in same day, and was out by 3 in the afternoon.

You don't normally stay overnight in the hospital. How far along was she, if she had a miscarriage very early and passed "it" she wouldn't have to get a d&c. Not sure what to tell you other than if she is a friend of 9 years do you feel what she says is the truth? Hope this helps..

I have had two miscarriages, I was in the emergency room for the first, I did not stay and I did not have a D&C.
For the second I didn't go to the emergency room or the doctor. I did not have a D&C.

Not every woman needs a D&C, that's only necessary if there is still tissue left inside the body after the miscarriage. It is very rare that a woman would be in the hospital for a miscarriage unless it was a late miscarriage or there were sever complications.

Why would you question your friend?

Well... Anything is possible, medical cases are never the same.

But let me put it this way: I had a miscarriage, and I was in and out of the hospital twice (both times for about four hours) because i was hemorrhaging uncontrollably. It was about a 4 week recovery after that.

I know that not all miscarriages are that difficult, but, if your friend did miscarry and she's not having any medical repercussions and she's also not sad or unhappy in any way, your skepticism may be warranted, or your friend is suppressing some pretty strong emotions.

Hope that helps..

Cheers

Umm, I mean anything is possible, but most of the time they like to do a DNC to make sure that everything is out, because if it isn't it can cause infection. You don't stay overnight for a miscarriage, but if you live in Canada, 3 hours isn't that long to be at the hospital. WHy don't you trust your friend?

Yes thats what happened to me. I was bleeding heavily with lot's of clots, i couldnt keep anything down, i had severe diarreoha, i was very dehydrated, and i was in soo much pain.

My mum had to take me to the hospital because my partner was working and was quite far away. All the hospital did was put a drip in to rehydrate me, waited until i had passed the sac and they just sent me home with pain killers. I think i was in there for a total of about 2 ande a half maybe 3 hours!

They only keep you in for a short while to make sure everything has come out and once that is done they send you on your way!

yes, it's possible and very normal. I don't think they ever keep you overnight for a miscarriage unless you were pretty far along or there were other complications with your body. They also usually just feel your uterus to ensure that everything made its way out. Women who are going through this are typically very distressed and doctors realize that. The best thing is to go home, be with your loved ones and rest.

Yes sweetie, I have had 2 miscarriages myself and they did not do a D & C either. It really depends on how far along she was with the pregnancy and how her body is doing naturually. I never had to have one because my body was taking care of it naturually. Not everyone has a D&C when they have a miscarriage, and if she has been your friend for 9 years, why wouldn't you take her word for it.?
