Whenever I use the dishwasher, there is an awful oder coming from the disposal. I've tried lemons and oranges in the disposal but I think it's the dishwasher. Anyone have a solution. I heard about using lemon kool-aid in a empty cycle, but I just dont know since I havent heard from someone that has tried it.

I use a product I get at Walmart called Lemi-Shine.. it seems to clean and disinfect at the same time.
Good Luck!

To add to some of the answers the guy that installed our dishwasher a couple of years ago told us when you run the dishwasher make sure you run your garbage disposal before running the dishwasher. It will keep the odor down and food from backing into the dishwasher. The only other thing food might be caught in the line somewhere going into the disposal.

Get some paper towels and clean around the seals (where the door seals against the machine.) There should be some rubbery things there. 'Stuff' can get caught in them and rot, causing the smell. Check the filter screen (should be in the bottom of the machine where the water drains.) Clean this out as well. Check under the spray arms to make sure there isn't some 'stuff' stuck under or in them. Pour a cup of bleach into the bottom of the machine. Let sit for half hour, then run a full normal cycle (with NO dishes inside.) Try to catch it as it is draining and run the garbage disposal in your sink (if you have a disposal) as 'stuff' can get caught in the drain line from the machine to the disposal. Let the door stay open overnight. If the smell remains, try repeating the cycle with a couple of cups of vinegar instead of the bleach.

The pump and drain hose are full of rotting goop. Run it through a cycle with 2 cups of bleach on the hottest setting possible. Repeat as necessary. The kitchen will smell like bleach for a day but it'll pass.

I imaged that the drains must be blocked.

This is something that you have to deal with regularly with dishwashers.

You need to go the shopping center and ask the managers what product you need to clean dishwashing drains.
