my mom is being a b*tch. not kidding. i have asthma and lately due to stress and family issues its gotten alot worst. my asthma is in 100% control of me. my mom says that im either faking or she doesnt care. ive been in the hospital alot lately, and the last time i was there they kept me for 2 nights. my mom says that there was no reason for me to decided to stay the second night. OF COURSE THEIR WAS! it wasnt all my decision. the doctors ound my moms lighter next to my bed after she left and asked about it and i said yeah she smokes. so they wanted to keep me out of that enviroment for a while. yesterday i got a root canal and the doctor did a HORRIBLE JOB. i havent been able to eat much the last two days. and my mom and i were down stairs talking and she said, "well im afriad to ask you how much it hurts becuase your so dramatic now days" and i told her to shut up and that i was tired of this stuff. if she isnt the one hurt, she doesnt care. its like i should go run away. im not that

stupid though. my question is, what do i do? all she seems to care about is herself. my dad has this rule, if she takes me to the hospital, and doesnt give them my insurance info then she has to pay the bill. well she somehow disapears when the insurance ppl get there so she doesnt have to deal with it and i keep telling her that shes costing my dad [they r divorced he pays the bills] alot of money, she just doesnt care about anyone except herself, my jerk for a stepdad and my "princess" for a little sister. im left in the cold here and im so mad im choking back tears. talking to her just doesnt help. she doesnt care. and like shes not abusing me shes just mean. i guess all teenagers eventually argue and fight with their parents right??

I am a mom so I kind of know what’s what. First of all if you need to be at the hospital, you should be at the hospital. Call your dad and ask him to send you another insurance card. Put it up and keep it. It was sent to you through the mail, she can not tamper with the US Mail, mom or no mom.

Sounds to me like there is a lot of disrespect on both parts going on here. She is disrespectful to you, so you in turn show her what she is showing you. She doesn’t sound very mature to me. To say that to your kid after a root canal of all things shows that she has issues that she needs to deal with and leave you out of.

It also sounds like she favors your sister over you. Don’t take that out on your sister, it is not her fault.

My oldest daughter has asthma. It is nothing to play with and YOU need to take care of yourself, since it seems to be a problem for anyone else to right now. You have to eat and I know that is hard with dental work, but you are going to have to find something in that house you can eat. You have to keep your body healthy and the only way to do that right now is to eat. Stress will kill you with that asthma, so you are also going to have to find a way to stay out of her way until this blows over.

But look, don’t tell your mom to shut up. That just gives her fuel to fight with. Be the adult and walk away from her. Go to your room, quietly close the door, and watch TV or read or something.

I ran away from home when I was 14. My friend and I were gone for 4 months. That is not the answer to anything. Staying there shows her that you are a strong person, whom is not going to give your home up because she has decided to be a ***** towards you. Kill her with kindness honey, oh and maybe when you guys get things smoother over you could talk o her about your health troubles and MAYBE she can take the smoking outside. I NEVER smoked in my home until my daughter went to college. It won’t kill her. Well the smoking will, but going out to do it won’t.

Asthma is a very real and sometimes kinda scary thing to have. Some people don't get it because they haven't ever felt what it's like to really not be able to breathe and the panic that kicks in when we can't. [Mine gets worse when I'm stressed out, too.] Relaxation techniques I got from the doctor helped when I used them and I started using my inhaler less as I learned to relax more.

Maybe your Mom is going through a lot, too and isn't as focused on you as she used to be. You don't say how old you are...maybe she's trying to not 'baby' you? Maybe it's both and other things, too. You can try talking to her when you're both in a pretty good mood and ask her. There are some things, though, that parents don't and shouldn't share with our kids.

Is there another adult in your life you can talk to? An aunt, a friend's parent, a teacher or counselor at the school, your father, someone at church? It might help if there is someone who knows both of you to talk over whatever is going on.

Running away doesn't help anything. It's frightening and dangerous, no matter how well you think you have things planned out. And it's just as hard on your parent(s) because they know all the possibilities and carry a lot of the blame. Everyone just ends up hurt more.

Think about who you can talk to and give both you and your Mom some space to handle what you need to of your own issues. And give her a hug just because....you'll get one, too.

Do not run away. Can you go live with your dad? You do not say how old you are but you might be able to decide for yourself where you live. The next time you have to go to the hospital call your father. He should call his lawyer. She should not be able to run up bills that he has to pay and I would not continue to allow her to do it. Doctors do not keep you in the hospital for no reason. Yes she is abusing you, it is called mental abuse. Call and talk to your father about your options. Running away will only get you into trouble. If your asthma is that bad you should not be around a smoker. That should be enough to get you out of her house. Enlist the help of your doctor if you have to. Good luck son.

I understand what you're going through. My mom gets like that at times to bi*chy, that is. Don't run away that's a really bad idea. I know you said your not but please just stop considering it. Here lately I haven't be able to get along with either of my parents. Best advice: Try to find a way to stay away from her. Stay in your room or do after school activities or be with friends. (I've been through this). If your old enough get a job. You could save your money so you could move out when your 18. :) Then you wouldn't have to do deal with it anymore. Good luck. I hope things get better. If you need someone to complain to I'm here.

Well, that is really wrong. She should treat both your little sister and you equally. It really is not fair what she is doing. If she smokes and you have asthma what does she think smoking is going to do to you. Its only hurting you more. You do not seem to me to be dramatic. Its ok to say a root canal hurts. Infact its true. Do not run away though. I guess just wait till you are eighteen and try and get away from the situation the best you can.

Im sorry that you are having problems with your mom, but it sounds like to me that she wants to be the center of attention, and she hates the fact that you get the attention, even though you are the one with the asthma problems. I have asthma too and I know what you are going through being in and out of hospitals. If the doctors feel you should stay in the hospital then you should. Sorry for your root canal. They are horrible arent they. Im here if you ever need to talk. Connie D

Are you old enough to choose to go live with your dad? Sometimes, a lot of the time, moms these days lose sight on their purpose-- to take care of their children. I really feel for you. My mom was not there for me growing up either. You need to try to relax; don't take on other people's baggage, we each have enough of our own to deal with. This is especially important for you because it directly affects your health. Sometimes dads have a way of leveling us out. If you have a good one, that's the advice I would give you. Hang in there, you sound like a caring person. Don't let other people's hard hearts ruin that in you. God bless.

Sounds like you and your mom need a heart to heart talk to let her know that your asthma is really acting up and you are not just putting on to get attention, if that is the case. So time kids do certain things to get attention and maybe that is what your mom is thinking. Just remember when you do talk to her that she is your mom and regardless of what she say always respect her; never disrespect your mom regardless of the situation

I really don't know what to say to you about this. Your mother should not be smoking anywhere near you if you have asthma. I'm sorry all of this is happening to you but running away won't help. Do you have a dad, grandmother or a teacher you can talk to? Try to take care of yourself. Good luck.
