Well when you decide to take some Americans hostage, overrun US territory, burn our sacred flag, you can guarntee that you will be hated. Iran has earned our hatred, and if we would have had a man as president instead of Carter the Iran problem would not exist today, except in history books.

Here is the reality. Iran has an economy the size of Finland's and an annual defense budget of around $4.8 billion. It has not invaded a country since the late 18th century. The United States has a GDP that is 68 times larger and defense expenditures that are 110 times greater. Israel and every Arab country (except syria & Iraq) are quietly or actively allied against Iran. And yet we are to believe that Tehran is about to overturn the international system and replace it with an Islamo-fascist order? What planet are we on?
When the relatively moderate Mohammed Khatami was elected president in Iran, American conservatives pointed out that he was just a figurehead. Real power, they said (correctly), especially control of the military and police, was wielded by the unelected "Supreme Leader," Ayatolla Ali Khamenei. Now that Ahmadinejad is president, they claim his finger is on the button. (Oh wait Iran doesn't have a nuclear button yet and won't for at least three to eight years, according to the CIA, by which point Ahmadinejad may not be president anymore. But these are just facts.)
In a speech, Rudy Giuliani said that while the Soviet Union and China could be deterred during the cold war, Iran can't be. the Soviet and Chinese regimes had a "residual rationality," he explained. Hmm. Stalin and Mao--who casually ordered the deaths of millions of their own people, formented insurgencies and revolutions, and starved whole regions that opposed them--were rational folk. But no Ahmadinejad, who has done what that compares? One of the bizarre twists of the current Iran hysteria is that conservatives have become surprisingly charitable about two of history's greatest mass murderers.
Last year, the Princeton scholar, Bernard Lewis, a close adviser to Bush and VPresident Cheny, wrote an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal predicting that on Aug. 22, 2006, President Ahmadinejad was going to end the world. The date, he explained, "is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the Prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to "the farthest mosque", usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back. This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalytic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world" (my emphasis). This would all be funny if it weren't so dangerous.

Iran was run by the Shah, our boy in that region, and things were going great. He was riding shotgun while we used the country as we saw fit.
Then he was overthrown in a religious revolution that our Intelligence Community somehow missed (imagine that!) and that irked us.
To add insult to injury the revolutionaries kidnapped our embassy personnel and held them prisoner for over a year.
Just when it seemed like things couldn't get any worse, they did: We tried to stage a rescue attempt, but our helicopters ended up crashing in utter failure.
Most people who remember that stuff are still pretty irked about the embassy hostage taking, if nothing else...

Iran (its puppet macmammaam and the mullas) wants the power to to kill ,coerice or enslave other populations.
The delusional belief is that their ideology will be forced on the world's population; those unwilling will be dubbed as enemies and killed..All they lack is the power, the weapons and armies of poor dupes willing to die to secure their lust for power, world domination .
..Sane folks know that those who declare intent to kill (for whatever reason) are dangerous..
What Americans dont get is why the populatiomns of countries run by delusional/petty tyrants that kill their own remain in power. Most humans want to live without repression and live to see theior children prosper and thrive. Instead they risk their children and waste their lives in fear.
Iran has the ability to produce a great country that will nuture their population, produce scholars, inventors and other talented individuals...which would enrich the world community. They chose instead to accept the idea that imposing their cultural/religious beliefs on others or KILLING those who refuse to comply is more valuable than than the lives of their families, neighbors etc.
...I dont think its anger ! It is a normal human instinct. Humans are hardwired to recognize danger from a beast (including a human) that will kill wantonly simply to achieve its goal.
HUmans usually eliminate the threat (history records the death/destruction and loss of entire civilizations due to human warfare). Unlike animals that kill for food humans can chose to recognize that different groups can co-exist .
Iran has a choice...buy into the idea that enemies must be killed because their leaders seek what? What God lneeds the help of mortals to punnish his people?

They have been yanking our chain for almost 30 years and getting away with it. There was the embassy hostage crisis, the oil boycott, more hostages in Lebanon, the Iran contra affair (including the cake), their support of Hamas and Hezbollah and the fact they are trying to challenge our power in the Persian gulf. Add to this that we do not like the culture of fundamentalist Islam, particularly the way they treat women, and you get one point on the axis of evil.

Iran: 50 young people condemned to death for 'immorality'
Tehran, 21 Nov. (AKI) – Iranian police responsible for moral crimes have announced death sentences for 50 people in the latest clampdown on what the authorities term as "immoral behaviour".
"Fifty of the 3,400 people arrested for immorality in recent weeks, have been condemned to death," said General Ahmad Roozbahani, who is in-charge of moral crimes.
While announcing that arrests would continue, the Iranian general said that 53 percent of those arrested were aged between 17 and 25 years.
He said 5 percent of those arrested in the moralisation campaign, which began in March, were minors under the age of 17.

Iran's president has questionable ties to the 1979 Hostage Crisis in Iran. Iran's president has made threats about blowing Israel off the map and "punishing" those who support Israel.
That's why I'm leery and suspicious of Iran... not the people necessarily, but the government.

Iran just like Iraq has oil. Thus, America is very much against its government so that it can wage an invasion and control the oil.

Hmmm, maybe because they have nukes, and wont disarm?
Fact: You should read a history book instead of buying into far left bs.
Fact: Even if their book says that, they obviously dont follow it. If they did we would have two more buildings in new york now.
