Austrailians are typically viewed as being out-doorsy, fun-loving, party-loving people, who can drink the typical american under the table.

I love the Land of Oz!! Someday I hope to visit that country.
But, from the people I've met from "Oztralia", some do speak faster than a native New Yorker (try to keep up with them!!)
Most Australians seem pretty kindhearted. Everyone has been generous and friendly.
So G'day Mate and hope to see you in the Land Down Under sometime!

As an Aussie its interesting to read these responses, I have travelled twice to the States now, staying several months and was always welcomed warmly, Americans do hold onto the Steve Irwin/Crocodile Dundee image a lot though, Stevo was a legend !

I think heavy accent and outdoorsy/active people...i think Steve Irwin probably helped to form the stereotypical image. Also, I remember an australian guy came into lecture once to talk to us about studying abroad, and I couldn't understand a word he said...he was very excited and spoke very quickly and kind of jumped up and down (cute though). so yeah, that's sort of what i think of. very dynamic people, though i'm sure there are boring aussies too.

Americans (this one anyways) perceive Aussie women as being super models with charming accents and Men as being adventurous with an appetite for lager.

My perception....Sweaty pink face people, that love to drink and eat a strange display of wild life creatures. ( None bathers)
U don't talk faster, but u do use a lot of slang...When I hear u guys talk it sounds like a southern version of the queens English.
