Be nice, but firm and say NO! If possible keep a screen door or suchlike close and locked between you. If they do make a treat against you or your family contact the police ASAP. Do not talk about this neighbour to others neighbours, it will get back to them.

jeez. unfortunately i guess you have already started a (poor) relation with this person or these persons, otherwise my first move would always be simply to no longer answer the door and/or phone and avoid them as much as humanly possible. after that, if they really are threatening you, tell them you don't appreciate it and you will call the police. that really stinks and i hope you don't have to have that kind of confrontation. at the very worst, it might be time to move. oh, and if you have a screen door then stand behind the screen door and DO NOT open it when they come; always make excuses and do not open the door(s) if you can help it.

You need to tell them that although you were being nice, you will not stand for threatening behavior and they can leave you alone or you will call the police, and then do it.Because that's the only way to stop it.Good luck.

Just tell them "you are sorry, but you have a new policy and that is not to loan out things to people anymore". If they become abusive or threatening, hold you cell phone where they can see it and call 9ll

Bless your heart. I would already have beat them down by now. One does not become abusive OR threatening in my house. Do you know any males who can strike fear into them?
