Those leucocytes of blood that have granules in the cytoplasm are called granulocytes.These granules have different staining properties and according to that they are named neutrophil(70%), eosinophil(4%) and basophil(1%). The serve to constitute the defence system of the body. engulfing bacteria, dust particles and cell debris etc and are involved in local inflammation.

Granulocytes are a category of white blood cells. They are called like that because of their grainy appearance. They help destroy bacteria and foreign invaders in the body. And there are three groups of granulocytes. Neutrophils,eosinophils, and basophils. Each with a different funtion.
