We have the same thing here, the main route north out of the city as is usually blocked a couple of times a year.
It is cleared within half a day but the news blows it up as if it is an Arctic blizzard.
I hate to imagine if we had snow for days at a time or a blizzard, the media would have a field day.

Plowing the snow makes the news there? Must be a slow news day or something. I guess they'll be reporting on that all winter long.

I personally believe that snow plowing should be a big story because the US Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have shovels, and, uh, I believe that our plowing, like such as South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like, such as -- and I believe that they should. Our plowing over here in the US should help the US -- should help South Africa and should help the Iraq, and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up snow piles for our children

Wow that's kind of dumb for them to make such a big deal about that. Here in Tennessee where I live, every time we just have a small dusting; that makes the headlines big time and all of the schools will be closed for like a week. The salt trucks come out and people have wrecks right and left. People run to Walmart, so that they will have enough supplies for the "storm." A typical supplies list over here consist of batteries, bottled water, non-perishable goods like poptarts, toilet paper, and a TV guide.

It should be business as usual, like it is in upstate New York. If we ever got real cold and snowy in Arizona or Nevada that would be a big news story.

I'm in Missouri and we get huge news coverage for snow! omg It's magical and it shows up every winter. Yes I think it is business as usual but some of those media types are easily entertained. You have the nicest people in MN. I just love my friends from Brandon.

Here in Toronto snow ploughs do not make the news. However, traffic news will tell you if they are ploughed yet or not - usually this happens while you sleep so hopefully the major roads are done before you have to go to work.
