I am in the 8th grade, which means I will be in high school next year. My problem is I don't understand math at all, and I don't know if I will be able to do freshmen math next year. I am getting math help twice a week, but no matter how easy someone explains it I still don't know what they are talking about. If I don't understand this by next fall I will not pass math and will not graduate. Please help! I don't know what I should do

Practical advice:
1. Believe in yourself.
2. Make an effort to understand - ask for help if required.
3. Get a tutor.

Ssssslow Down! it is not the end of the world Dear, I am a person that has been down that road and I tell you I made it through school just barley making it in math, until I got in college, my Instructor pushed what was in me, and that was the determination to learn, do you have that? Determination? I came into the fact that I was able to apply myself better. I think the problem is that you may not know how to apply yourself quite well, and with the timid fear that you have it doesn't make it any better. Look! relax or chi-lax don't think too much on the negative but focus on the positive and that is: telling yourself that you can do this, allow your comprehension to take over when a problem is being explained, if they are showing you problem or whatever and you don't catch on have someone to show you again, I found myself doing Algebra, Trig and those complicated Fractions, I passed my first semester of college math with an A.
I had to ask my Instructor was that a mistake I was not believing that I made an A. There is no such word as "can't" You [will] make it through High School and Graduate, You just have to stop thinking that you can't do math and allow yourself to learn math. un-cloud your mind with fear and replace it with a free conscience and the ability to learn. Renew your mind and focus. Don't settle for frustration and giving up_____get determined!

You need to believe you can understand math because you are perpetuating your own frustration. My best success in math came when I looked at it all as money and food - I am now a chef and a business owner so the math is crucial to my business. In order to understand math you must find a way to make it personal if you like to shop apply all your math problems to shopping - really it works. To further help yourself learn a product like Quickbooks, Excel or Quicken any of these will show you practical applications for math that seems useless now but will prove to you it is not. Good Luck!

In high school their are multiple levels of math classes. You don't have to take a high level math class. If you're having trouble you can take a class that best suits you. Most high school requirements are that you must have a certain number of math classes not necessarily specific math classes. So start off slow with basic classes and that will help you build an understanding.

Have you told the instructor that is tutoring you this? There are several ways to learn math, you just need to find the one that works for you.

Math is a language, just like English is.
