I get 3 vacations a year but last year I didn't use any vacation time. Now I have 6 weeks to use before my anniversary date in August. Can my employer take away the 3 weeks from the previous year? I live in Oregon if it makes a difference.

Most employers have a "use or lose it" policy. Vacations don't accrue if you don't use them. It is usually the responsibility of the employee to schedule vacations within the available time (some companies black out weeks during busy times, etc.) or forfeit it altogether.

Allowing vacation time to accrue (or build up) year after year is a special benefit offered by very few companies. It's nice, but by no means required of them to do it.

It depends on the policies of the business. Check with the HR department. They can explain your vacation benefits to you.
