Can your kindergardener write let alone read????

To rebut Obama's comments that he was not running "to fulfill some long-held plans" to be president, the Clinton campaign cited an AP interview with Obama's kindergarten teacher, who remembered he wrote an essay entitled, "I Want to Become President."

Yes, my kindergarten 5 yr. old daughter can write in complete sentences and she can also read but I think that using the word "essay" to refer to something written by a kindergartener is just a bit rediculously stupid.

I think the Clinton camp should worry more about what Hillary will do to make America better rather than focusing on what Obama said 40 years ago!!!!!!!

My younger daughter is now in first grade, but she could certainly write in Kindergarten, enough to write "I want to be president." It wouldn't have been spelled very well, but it would have bee understandable.

I teach in the NYC public schools, and while not all kindergarten children could do this, a healthy number of them could.

I have a hard time believing that anyone in kindergarten wrote an essay.

This made me laugh.

First of all, I think it was his 3rd grade teacher.

Second of all, Hillary Clinton thinks this hurts Obama? I like him even more because it shows he has ambition and intelligence.

Third of all, Hillary is a hypocryte, because this is "slinging mud" at Obama, who just a month earlier was supposedly "slinging mud" (those are Clintons words) at her.

they expect them to be able to,but I doubt that he wrote an essay or even claimed to. To be honest my kids could read and write.

Yes - my kindegarteners were reading and writing by the end of their school year.
