Not in the least.

The entertainment industry needs to be reminded that it is not running the country, and that it's services are not necessities.

It's just about time they got a wake-up call that they are no better than joe-blow plumber/miner/electrician/cop/etc. etc. etc who does an honest year's work for less than they make a month.

no longer each and every of the writers make that lots. maximum writers obtainable somewhat make ends meet. they are fortunate to sell a script a year. And except they are VERY fortunate, they do no longer look to be making 200k+ a year. Plus, Its no longer just about the money. verify out the studios, they are making 1000's of tens of millions in keeping with annum, and if there have been no writers, there could be no television. they are additionally no longer soliciting for plenty, only 4 cents extra, then the 4 cents they already make for each dvd offered, and a share of the hot media sales. in the event that they had to be grasping do no longer you think of they could desire a flat fee for brand spanking new media? For ex. "each time sombody watches between the shows I wrote on the information superhighway, i choose $5." properly if no one watched it, and the studio did no longer make money they could go into debt. yet each and every of the writers are soliciting for is a share. i don't recognize precisely what that's, yet whilst the studios are making a residing, shouldn't the persons who save the studios in corporation make money too? Or could desire to the large cats that very own the studios, and the actors make each and every of the money? Its no longer the writers fault that staffers are loosing their jobs. The studios are not budging the two. in fact, in case you verify out whats happening, most of the persons who have been laid off, have been to black mail the writers.

No....in fact it is like the baseball strike a number of years ago.

People actually found out they could do without baseball and in this case, they may find out they can live without watching TV every damn night. We may see a resurgence of board games like Chess and Go, which require some thought!

It took baseball a number of years and some heavy steroids to get their spectator numbers back up and the same will be true with TV. I myself have found chat rooms much more stimulating than anything on TV!!

Some of Jay Leno's writers get $500,000 a year. Today's paper said, Leno, Letterman, and O'Brien are all paying their writers out of their own pockets. Come on. All these guys got their starts as comedians on small stages... why not come back and do their own original stuff at least a couple nights a week?

No, and don't give a ratsass if I see another new show. The re-runs of old shows are better anyway.
