If you were in the grocery business, who would you benchmark for technological innovations, and why? Would the companies be inside or outside your industry? Why?

I would be looking at Seven Eleven. Jim Keyes was the CEO of that company for many years and turned it around from financial disaster to profitable. He used a lot of technology to do it. My favorite story is how he tracked the sale of donuts on certain days in certain weather conditions to make sure they had just enough fresh donuts on the days they needed them - instead of guessing and throwing a bunch of donuts away every day. Technology to sell donuts!! Ha! Pretty good, huh? Do some web research on Jim Keyes and Seven Eleven. I think you'll find it interesting.
