And what are some things to include in a short story

Certain things are common to all stories: Something must be "at stake." For instance, someone wants something, and someone else wants to prevent him from getting it. That's called a "conflict."

Usually there some "back and forth." The first guy's on top a while; then the second guy. We wonder who will win.

Finally, the conflict is resolved. The first guy (our hero) devises a clever plan, or makes a superhuman effort and overcomes the second guy's resistance, so (tah dah!) he wins.

So when you're planning your story, think about things people want: love, happiness, a new car, the winning lottery number, to dance on TV -- whatever.
Who doesn't want the person to get that thing? Maybe a rival, another student; another student's mother; maybe the teacher for some reason. That's the conflict

How does the girl overcome the problem and get what she wants? She has a plan or a 'secret weapon" or . . . (you tell us).

That's your story.

Take an event in your life, build characters in it to replace you and others, and write it in the first person.

Take it down paths you did not go in reality. It's your story and you're the creator.

Good luck.
