a person took this photo of the bat flying up and down on a wooded path.. there were no other bats in sight, if you notice it has a shadow, so its not any reflection...

im wondering if that is a shadow or maybe just a dark patch on the road...however i do have other photos with the same light taken inside a house, that there were no moths or anything flying around.....

it definitely has a shadow underneath it. Wish the speed of the camera was better. this is why investigators need to switch up to an SLR Digital, you wouldn't get blurs like that. Its an interesting pic.edit: what ever it is, its very close to the camera.
Edit: the shadow is probably about 1 foot in diameter. I will give it that a shadow can be a lot bigger the further away from it source it is.But it is far too large for a moth, and it has a round shape to it. There is no distinct shape other than it is round. If it was another bird, it should have had wings in the shadow as close to the ground as it was. I cannot analyze it though with out having the actual photo.

I think it is a dark spot on the road. The reason for that is if you take a straight edge like a ruler and center it on the dark spot and through the center of the white object, it would indicate that the light source that would cause the 'shadow' would be above the white object and would be very bright to cause a shadow in the bright light of the flash. There is no indication of an additional light source. Also, if you look at the shadows of the small pines in the foreground to the left and the right you see that their shadows are nearly directly behind the saplings. They are caused by the flash.
Casper though seems to be in a hurry. He is even leaving vapor trails. But the area around the object and the below it are smudged. It is not clean. The leading edge (that towards the bat) is almost outlined as if drawn, while the trailing edge is wispy. What does that mean? I think it is not anything supernatural.
There are lots of orbs though. More than a dozen and some even in the trees. Since the bat is out for food I would attribute some of them to bugs and others to dust. The odd one is the one with a face.
What is strange is the two very bright points of light in the distance. One is located up to the left of the bat and the other high in a pine tree to the right of the bat.
Cool picture though.

When I zoom in on the object the resolution of the area between it and the shadow has poor resolution. This makes me think the picture may have been manipulated in that area. Also, since the shadow (if it is a shadow) is begin cast as if the light source--the flash--is above where the flash actually is, I am thinking perhaps there is something fishy going on with this picture. Otherwise this secondary light source would be casting shadows with all of the other objects present.
I can't say for certain, but those two anomalous features alone make this picture a good candidate for manipulation.

It looks like whatever the light source is may or may not be casting a shadow on the ground, the dark spot on the ground could be a wet spot on the ground. Then again I'm not a photo expert but something in the angle isn't right... just my observation.
Lights would probably cast a glow instead of a shadow, unless it was a solid object in front of the camera ( maybe the moth the bat was after? )
I took the photo into photoshop, the shadow extends down from the light source, could be a fake.

The bright object is some insect that flew in front of the lens just when you took the picture. It is so bright because it is close to the camera. It looks farther away because of the shadow underneath it.
However, look at the shadows of the tree branches. Because the flash is next to the lens, it makes shadows directly behind things. So anything not close to the camera will have a sharp shadow directly behind it. However, in this case, the insect is very close so the shadow is fuzzy and at more of an angle. Look up parallax.

Interesting, I can not tell you what it is, but I can tell you that I honestly dont believe the shadow and the light object are in the same photo. This reeks of a photoshop job.
Think about this. Light doesnt cast a shadow, and the flash would wash out any shadows. Thus there would have to be something underneath the light object.
Still the flash would wash it out at that angle. I think the shadow is painted in.
edit: are me and Wiccan Rider the only ones who see that this is obviously fake?

That is a great photo, I wonder what it is too. It had to be light colored to reflect that much light, some times you can tell what it is by the shape of the leading edge. I have some photos that are like this but different shape. It doesn't look like a lens flair or camera problem. It looks to be bigger than a bug, judging by the shadow it's not that close to the camera. That's a big bat in the back ground, any idea where this was taken.

The shadow is not from the bat. By the angle of the light, the shadow is from that bright light thing in the middle of the photo. What the heck is that?
