Well although Trip is not a common name, I feel you must respect your husbands wishes... Especially since you named your daughter and he respected you by not changing things up.
So in my opinion Trip James is..... You could always call him T.J,James,Jamie,Jay,Tee or Just plain ole Trip!

Well, since Trip isn't actually a formal given name, but generally used as a nickname to indicate "the third," I'd have to say I completely agree with your mother. LOL I realize some people are ignorant of this, and still legally name their sons Trip, Junior, Sonny and other such pet forms, but that doesn't make it any more appealing in my mind. Only uninformed and unfortunate.
I mean, if your husband IS a junior, and wants to literally name your son after himself, THEN use Trip as a nickname ... well at least then he'd have an actual name to put on his college applications, resumes, business cards, office door, etc. But he won't always have to go by the informal, childish nickname "Trip."
That said, since it is a nickname anyway, perhaps he'd compromise on Alexander Joshua or some other actual name, and use Trip as a nickname regardless of whether he's actually a third or not. After all, that seems far less problematic than giving it to him as his actual name without that connection. I mean sure, people might still wonder WHY he's called Trip but doesn't share a name with your husband, grandfather, etc., but at least they won't wonder why he doesn't even have a name.

I'm not sure I'd name him 'Trip'. As a nickname maybe. Why not compromise and name him Alexander James? You both like Alexander, and James is his choice.
Or you can just let dad name this one, considering you named the first child. But I know someone who ended up with children with car names because of dad's choices. LOL
By the way, I prefer Joshua Alexander over Alexander Joshua. I think it flows better.
Thinking about it again, Joshua Alexander Trip sounds okay, too. Depends on your last name though. I think names should flow.

How about Alexander Trip? He will still have Trip as a middle name but Alexander for his first name and he won't be teased as much for it. I don't like the name Trip, but no one has to know that it's his middle name.

How would you feel if your husband changed your daughters' name from Chrystina JoAnn Marlene to
Journey Arabelle??? Would that hurt your feelings?
Be considerate! Husbands have feelings too!
Maybe the name Trip James has meaning to him, or perhaps he just likes the name.. Whatever the case, I would talk to my HUSBAND about it FIRST.

Trip is not a good name
because he will be "tripping" and people will say "hey stop tripping it doesn't matter" and other jokes
i like alexander joshua though or maybe you could settle with Alexander James or James Joshua or James Alexander or possibly switch the order so it is James Trip

Trip? Really. Wow. I can not say I would ever name my child Trip. I have to agree with your Mom, kids are gonna be all over that when he goes to school. It seems mean. I would try for Alexander Trip instead. Or Joshua Trip, if that name has to be in there. But would stay away from making that his first name. His daddy can always call him by his middle name in affection and that can pacify everyone involved.

I would not recommend naming him Trip...I do believe he will get teased a lot, but you also have to think about his future...a name is very important...it is with you for LIFE...How seriously is someone named Trip going to be taken in a major job interview? Yes, he will get teased, but kids find things to tease about regardless...what's really important is how well a name will transition into adulthood. My advice is to pick a good strong name....Honestly, when I first saw the name "Trip", the first thing I thought of was drugs, and that is def. not good! Compromise with the daddy. If he INSISTS on Trip, use it for a middle name or a nickname and come up with a first name you both like. Good luck and congrats on your baby boy!

There is a good chance he'll be teased throughout his life. But it will also make him stand out... sometimes for the better. It's really up to you and the dad to decide. You could even try Alexander Trip. Either way it will be a unique name and it's a name he'll have for the rest of his life. Decide what you want to be yelling, TRIIIIIIP!!! or ALEX!

Your mom is right that if he is named Trip that he will be teased for the rest of his life. Alexander Trip would be a good decision. You could always call him by his nickname.

I agree with your mom...it's a horrible name and he will be teased forever. Alexander is a good middle name, but there are a million names that go well with it...unfortunately, Trip isn't one of them.
