Yes because the men are older they likely have more wealth, house, expensive cars, lots of money and experience. They will want to control the younger woman because they always have in the back of their mind that she will leave them for a man closer to her own age. It's a sad deal.

I have been with a younger man and to me, they are more controlling because their insecurities are driven by the fact that they learned from their father how to treat women, not always a good thing.
Older men are very understanding, but in a playful way, mine is a little more controlling.

My husband is 17 years older than I am. I'm 45yo. He's 62yo. We have been married for 8 years, together for 10. He has never been controlling. To the contrary, he has been nothing but supportive of anything I want to do with my life, ie, school, careers, family, etc.

I am a little older now and I understand women better, when guys are young they think dumb things and don't realize the things women feel and need. I think it all goes back to women who are about 20 are at the same maturity level as a guy at about 40, its sad but hey guys just wanna play around when they are young and women are much more serious. I see lots of young guys cheating on there women and older guys being faithful and treating their women good.

Older men are more understanding to the ways of a woman. I didn't say completely knowledgable, just more understanding. Their maturity might make them seem more controlling, but it is only their experiences in life that drive their decisions.

I think the means of being controlling is a state of mind when one feels they need to be that type of person. It may also be that this person grew up in that environment, and is simply dictating what he is accustomed to. Simple remedy, sit down like adults and say how you feel, what you like and what needs improvement. Perhaps tell him, as men don't automatically read minds, as to the behavior you expect him to have. You can even bring about positive rewards/encouragement when he brings about the non-controlling behavior. Lets face it we all not perfect, and our circumstances and experiences make us who we are today. And in the same respect, by discussion and communication couples grow together.

There are controlling men of every age, and their are women who allow the behavior to continue at every age also. I don't think you can blame it on age as much as you can on personality types who are abusive manipulators. That kind of behavior can be learned at any age.
