math question - Warrens dad mowed the 1/8 of the lawn. warren mowed 2/3 of the lawn that was left by his dad.?

1 ) how mcuh did warrne's dad DID NOT mowed?
2 ) what is the total fraction of the lawn did warren mowed?
3) what is the fraction of the lawn that each of warren's brother mowed ( he has 2 bros )

1. 7/8 of the lawn.
2. 7/12 of the lawn.
3. 7/24 of the lawn.

1.you need to get the fractions to have the same denominator ( the part on the bottom of the fraction)
2. so figure out what 8 and three both go into. in this case 24 is a good one.
3. so set it up like this
1/8= ?/24 2/3= ?/24
4. then figure out what ever you did to the denominator to make it 24 and do it to the numerator as well to tget the new numerator. ex.
in order to get 24 you had to multiply 8x3
so you need to multiply 1x3 also to get 3/24
5.then you dothe second number.
2/3=16/24
you get his becouse you had to multiply 3x8 in order to get 24, and you have to do the same thing to the top number as you do to the botton to get the new numerator(just like above)

6.now you are working with easier fractions. 3/24 being what warrens dad mowed. and 16/24 being what warren mowed.

7. to figure how much warrens dad did not mow you need to subtract 3/24 from 16/24 (so it will look liek this)
16/24-3/24

8. so you subtract it and get 13/24

shudda had that one in a heart beat

2) so 7/8 times 2/3 = 14/24 = 7/12

3) 1/8 + 7/12 = remainder
remainder divided by 2 = warrens brothers

24/24 - 17/24 = remainder = 7 /24

dividing by 2 = multiplying by 1/2 ...right?
so
7/24 times 1/2 = 7/48 for each brother
