Will i mature and get quikcer like iverson or would i have to be already like fast as lightning if i ever were to be that quick. im deciding whether to stop playing basketball becasue i dont know if i have the physical ability.

Don't worry about growing, leave that to nature. Your 13 almost 14, and your 5'8!! I bet you can get to 6'0 at about 15. If you wanna get good, do drills and practice. I used to play but i messed up my back when i was 14, so i cant no more, but i used to be good, (one of the top 50 13 year old players in cali. I won 5 Los angeles B Ball (1 on 1 tournaments and played in the local high school varsity team in eight grade.) Heres my advice: you gotta want i more. Theres no easy way, but there is a better way.
To help you out better (because i used to ask for help too), heres what i used to do 4 times a week to practice
1. Warm up: It's very important for GROWTH and flexibility. If you want to grow, reach for as hi as you can standing up without getting your feet of the ground. Stretch the hamstrings and arm a lot. (I BEG YOU, Please stretch, thats the reason i hurt my back, i dont want the same to happen to you!) Stretch for about 20 minutes.
2. Shoot: what i used to do was i put pieces of tape on different places on the ground and i shot from the same spot until i got 5 in a row, as you get better, elevate it to 7 then 9 and so on. (i got to 15 in a row for each) do this for 1-2 hours per day
3. Dribbling: where ever it is that you go, take a ball and dribble it when ever you walk or run. This way, ball control will be as natural as breathing.
4. defense: do defensive slides and climb up steps to get quiker feet. Do each for about 15 minutes
5. Have fun. Basketball, for me was a hobby when i started playing, but as i grew and got better, those around me started telling me that i could get to the NBA or college. all this pressure coming from coaches really made basketball less enjoying. It got to a point where everytime i played basketball, it felt like a chore rather than a game, dont let this happen!!!

God luck, God bless, and when you make it to the NBA, get me some tickets.

Hello, you know, think you are the best among others without a pride, just show the way you play with your wholeness you can be more better than allen iverson and show to him what you've got, just love your playing, with good attitude towards your opponents be courteous to your coach or tainor and dont cheat others. Playing basketball is fun but it is more fun if you play with your team mates with a good quality of chemistry inside the court with a lot of confident and good coordination and you must follow the play and respect its referees call. I know you have the physical ability but you need to be honest with yourself in doing such good practices to attain more qualities and techniques how to move more quicker to be tough shooter and contribute more points to your team in the way you will be recognize and to become a more quicker and tougher than allen iverson.goodluck

If you practice hard you will get just as good maybe even better than Iverson. Don't quit playing basketball just because you think you won't go pro there are many scholarships to be had by you

It will take you a lot of work, to be able to beat a pro basketball player, but if you just try maybe one day you will be able to out playe himn, and remember he will always get older, and evantally he will have to retire from the NBA. What he choses to do with his time, will be up to him. Just have to pratcice more, any then sooner or later you can play, and maybe out play any professtional basketball you want to, not that I am saying that I can out play Allen Iverson, he might even take me down, but you don't know if you don't try.
