I have to make a instrument for physics help anyone???

Question

i want to do something original but not tooo hard. i have about a month to do it. its graded on how loud it plays, quality and difficulty of construction, it needs at least six notes, and i have to play a song with it. it cant have any prefabricated items, except guitar strings, but i dont want to make a guitar. i was thinking about doing the FUN song from spongebob but idk how many notes are in it....any ideas are welcome!!!!! thanx!! :)

If you get points for loud, then think percussion. Bang different sized pieces of sheet metal into gongs with a hammer (wear earplugs!). You need a bowl shape to make it stiff enough to reverberate effectively. Tune them with tin snips. Reggae bands sometimes do this with trash can lids. To make a noted "instrument", you can hang them from a broomstick

You could use any material you want, from bamboo shoots to electrical EMT. You can find bamboo/ EMT/ copper pipes at your local home improvement store. If you go with bamboo, make cuts directly below the nodes of the chute, and if you are using metal/copper pipes, then cut them down to different sizes and purchase end caps to close off one end of each of the pipes.
