I'm planning on taking a trip this weekend to the States to do my Christmas shopping, and want to know the best outlet malls to visit..I'm coming down from Montreal and would love to know the best (and preferably closest) places-Thanks :)

Plattsburgh is the closest notable city on the American side, and is about 100km from Montreal. There is a list of shopping here:

The main mall is Champlain Centres (yes, it's the Canadian "centre"), located off Exit 37 on I-87:

temporal gives an excellent overview.

Champlian, NY, right on the border along I-87 (Q 15), has some shopping, and last I knew was in the process of building a Target, but I'm not sure how far along they are.

There are also some shopping outlet in Vermont north of Burlington, if memory serves, probably at St. Alban's or thereabouts, but I'm not sure how much or what kind.
