Simplify: (2a-5)(a^2-3a-9)
Simplify: 2x^2-x[3-2(x+3)] I think the second one is multiplication of a polynomial but I'm not sure

1.) Just multiply it out:
(2a - 5)(a^2 - 3a - 9) = 2a^3 - 11a^2 - 3a + 45

2.) Start on the inner-most grouping symbol first:
2x^2 - x[3 - 2(x + 3)]
= 2x^2 - x(3 - 2x - 6)
= 2x^2 - x(-2x - 3)
= 2x^2 + 2x^2 + 3x
= 4x^2 + 3x

Simplifying (3x + -1y)(5x + y) Multiply (3x + -1y) * (5x + y) (3x * (5x + y) + -1y * (5x + y)) ((5x * 3x + y * 3x) + -1y * (5x + y)) Reorder the terms: ((3xy + 15x^2) + -1y * (5x + y)) ((3xy + 15x^2) + -1y * (5x + y)) (3xy + 15x^2 + (5x * -1y + y * -1y)) (3xy + 15x^2 + (-5xy + -1y^2)) Reorder the terms: (3xy + -5xy + 15x^2 + -1y^2) Combine like terms: 3xy + -5xy = -2xy (-2xy + 15x^2 + -1y^2)
