I read an article in the Daily Star today, which made my blood boil.
Our nurses are to stop whatever they are doing, to turn the bed's of Muslim patients (in OUR hospitals ) towards mecca, 5 TIMES A DAY!!!! How much more of this pampering of foreigners must we endure? Whatever is happening to our Country? and how can we make our government see we have HAD ENOUGH?

Joseph ll No I havn't voted for 15 years now, as I don't think any of them are worth voting for, but I will be voting B.N.P in the next general elections.I think if we all voted for them, maybe we can stop all this stupid "pampering" of immigrants.

I think our nurses are overworked enough as it is. If Muslims want their beds turned 5 times a day to face Mecca, then their relatives should come in and do it for them.

Mica, Why must the poor nurses have to do this? I have nothing against Muslim relatives, and religious helpers coming in to turn the beds. This has nothing to do with being racist, but all this "pampering" is causing more racial tension, wouldn't you agree?

Um..this may be a stupid question but why don't they just leave the bed facing Mecca instead of constantly moving the bed?

Rotate the beds 5 times a day?! I haven't heard about that. The reason is because there are a lot of Muslims (relatively) in Britain--and Western Europe in general.
Your government is really being to soft on the minorities. I've got nothing against Muslims, I've actually got a couple of really good Muslim friends. It's just the small handful that makes everyone looks bad.
In Canada, there is a push to allow people to practice Sharia Law. I don't know how prevalent that is in Britain, but this non-discrimination and reverse-racism is going way too far.

Hi Maid in Cornwall,
I thought the British people having to pay for the restoration of Muslim women's hymens was bad enough..now, while they are staying in the hospital some poor nurse is going to have to turn their beds five times a day....I would say things are getting out of hand......I still can't believe you have over a hundred homicides being investigated right now that are believe to be possible honor killings....... I think every Briton should/needs to vote... if you are going down at least don't go down without a fight........

If things keep going like this with our society and customs being over ruled by the PC Brigade then I predict great social unrest in this country soon .
More and more people who till now have been accepting and tolerant of newcomers are slowly but surely getting mighty hacked off ( me included ).
Christmas festivities being cancelled to avoid upsetting muslims, etc.
The BNP must be loving this because its playing right into their hands !!!!!!!

Do you VOTE in the Elections? Those Votes are the ONLY things a Politician hears... -& the MORE people who DO, the MORE the Politicians "get it..."- or get kicked out.

You may recall that British society as it stands today is the result of imperialism and colonization, not to mention slave trade (Africa, Middle East, India, Asia etc). You rightly see Britain as a haven of relative peace and dominance worldwide. But this link that you have with your home country must not be turned into chauvinism. Recall that British success is in great part due to some rather pervasive control of foreign resources over time whether it may be natural or mankind resources. You may then ask yourself, is it not fair in this world to promote and safeguard diversity in mankind, by respecting customs and religious rites that are of no harm to anyone but a rather born to give comforting and guiding hands to peoples in the world, especially after such long periods of stealing land from aboriginal communities all over the world and trying to eliminate this beautiful cultural diversity which once colored the globe? We must understand the history of our own countries and the successive governments' actions which shaped their nations and the situations we find ourselves in. Then maybe will we understand that we owe to the world a great deal of payback if not at least a little respect and welcoming hearts. I am writing as a French and British national, and the same goes to France. Now relative to the actual detail of your question or your unjustified outcry, you may convene with some personal research on the subject, that the lack of success of British hospitals to treat patients in a timely and effective manner overall has nothing to do with nurses spending a few minutes turning a few beds around everyday. You may also agree after some economic understanding and more personal research that foreigners are part of the British domestic economic system: They provide skills, labour, pay taxes, bring knowledge from outside (culinary, medical, artisanal etc) and some of the beauties of their cultures. Let me say something about the way you perceive foreigners which I think must be rather xenophobic and is the root of your laments and blames: we may all agree that opening our frontiers without measure would bring a little instability in the short term to our societies with too big inflows of people to quick, and rightly this needs to be measured. But once the foreigners have been allowed in, they must be welcomed and treated as equals before the courts, institutions and society, because they form part of it in the same way you do. They might not have had a familly history there before they come, unlike you, but they are part of it now and the future. You must now look at British people as you identify them, who in the last decade have decided to move out of Britain to seek better lives elsewhere (France, Spain, Australia etc). Should they be treated in the same way as you seem to be wanting to treat foreigners in UK, when they move into other countries? would you like a hard time for them settling with their habits, religious beliefs in these other countries?
Why do you feel your blood is boiling reading this? where have your good and kind christian values been? Why cant you guys be kind to people who are different? why are you blaming them for the incapacity of nurses to deal with the overload of work? How come you guys blame Muslim people for the British government's inability to provide good health service (indirectly that is what you do. I am not stupid). Did you guys know the British government ruled Egypt in the 20th century for a while and killed Egyptians who wanted them out? do you think this is fair? did not you know that the problems going on in Palestine are direclty enrooted in British invasion and rule of the region in the past? doesnt that make you feel a little more compassionate towards Arabs who have good reasons in the middle East to feel some despise towards Britain (because THEY are more aware of history than British people in general, having been victims)? I am sorry to say this, and i devote part of my life toward remedying the situation, but the British people tend (and you guys are the perfect illustration of this) to be rather ignorant on history, especially the dark history of Britain towards the world, and also tend to be xenophobic, with a poor understanding and respect of foreigners. This is a shame and for a nation that tends to see itself as highly civilized, the challenge that it represents to live in harmony with different cultures and religion is contrary to the modern definition of being civilised. You may not agree with me and may not soothe your hearts towards muslims, but please convene with a little spark that your phobia is much related to ignorance and fear. This is a very old, ancient phenomena among populations. It is time to open up and be wise guys, especially that the world is mixing for good, an irreversible trend written in the evolution of life, which will wipe out all this lack of understanding, all these phobia, all this chauvinism, and bring people's hearts closer to each other. I grew up in Britain and France with a British Mum and a French Dad, but having discovered part of the world, having been alone in places completely foreign to me, and having been welcomed like a brother everywhere I went, I cannot let my heart feel more British or French than feeling part of mankind as a whole. Best wishes to all and hope you have the courage to travel abroad on your own for real and beautiful interactions with foreigners, in places they feel most comfortable with: their home.
