How many different ways can you make up 1000, using exactly eight eights and no other numbers and the usual mathematical operations of arithmetic.

i found two of them.
but need more.
i got these two
888+88+8+8+8=1000
and i really can't remember the other one.
i need to find least one more.

I assume rearrangements of the following *aren't* allowed:
888+88+8+8+8

Here's a few others:
(8888 - 888) / 8 = 1000
888 + (888 + 8)/8 = 1000
888 + (8+8)*8 - 8 - 8 = 1000
888 + (8 - 8/8) * (8 + 8) = 1000

David gave me the idea for exponents:
(8 + (8+8)/8) ^ ((8+8+8)/8) = 10^3 = 1000

And for decimals:
8888 / 8.888 = 1000
8/.8 x 8/.8 x 88/8.8 = 1000
(88 * 8 * 8) / (8.8 * .8 * .8) = 1000

Finally, if you are familiar with base 11:
888 base (88/8) - (8 * 8) = 1000

How about:
8+888+8+8+88?
or
88+8+888+8+8+?
There are all kinds of combo's!

Well, here's a really creative way...pry won't be official math, but it's still kinda neat...

using the - slice up two of the 8s in half.... so it gives you oooo
Now, flip the - 90 degrees to get 1.... and add three of the ooo from the halved 8s = 1000

lol

since 8/8 is equal to 1, you could say 8/8+8/8+8/8... and on and on and on 1000 times.

I played H.S. b,ball. Playing under pressure is far different than practicing alone. When you have someone breathing down your back on the court you are going to make mistakes.

Are you allowed to use 8 as an exponential, decimal, or use 8! ?

Puzzling's are good.
