In my government class i am the senator of New York and i have to write a enabling bill, therefore i have to write a bill that changes a law. So i was thinking raising minimum wage in NY but where does that money come from? im curious. It dosnt come from our taxes right?

no. but consumers will pay for the increase indirectly. The employer must raise their prices to cover the higher wages. Or eliminate another position to help with the added cost of doing business.

No, it will have to come from the employer- the owner of the business. Thus, many small business owners may be forced to lay off some in order to afford the higher wages mandated by your bill.

No, it comes from prices.

You pay $1.00 for cabbage at a grocery store. Let's say someone makes $5.00 an hour to work there. They can afford 5 cabbages, right?

Well, if the minimum wage is doubled, so will prices. Cabbages will cost $2. You can still afford 5 cabbages.

How does that help?

The employers would have to cover the bill, but the govt would have to careful not to screw over small businesses.

It would come in possible higher price's the companies who employee would have to pay. Good job raise it.
