I think it's a date exactly like any other. I am not aware of any references to this date other than from one interpretation of the Mayan calendar ending. But myths and legends are precisely that--ancient stories, with no firm basis in fact. Many other religions and prophets have predicted the end of the world countless times throughout history...and have been wrong 100.0% of the time. There is *NO* reason to believe the Mayans knew something that no one else did.
If this were the year 999, you would be hearing from a lot of sources that next year would, without any doubt, be the end of the world. God, it seems, liked nice round numbers. There had been also wars, famine and pestilence in recent years, and these were taken as omens and prophecies. But there had been wars, famine and pestilence in many other years as well, and the world kept on turning. So too did the year 1000 come and go, with nary a trace of Armageddon or Judgment Day.
Relax. The end of the Mayan calendar is little more than a pop-culture phenomenon. It has no more credibility than the countless failed doomsday prophecies of Nostradamus or your garden-variety cult leader. Live for the future!

No doom, only a mathermatical phenomonen based on astromonical observations from these cultures. The Aztecs (maybe Mayans?) say it will be the end of the 13th part of the greatest cycle (there are three different cycle layers, the smallest happening within the medium, the medium within the greatest), causing a start over at cycle part 0, or can be misinterpreted as the end of the world and the start of a new one.

It could tie in with the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary ,who has been appearing at Medjugorje since 1981.A shimmering figure of a woman upon the hill bathed in a brilliant light.Vicka (one of the visionaries) described the figure as wearing a silver, grey gown ,dark hair, and pale white complexion. The figure identified herself as "The Blessed Virgin Mary"She is appearing to the seers to tell the world of the urgency to return to the ways of God.
Mary said "When you see a night illuminated by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign from God that the chastisement of the World for its many transgressions is at hand, through war, famine, persecution of the Church and of the Holy Father".According to Mirjana (visionary)We are close to the events predicted by The Blessed Virgin.
Now i know most people will treat this as pure fantasy or some kind of trickery,or optical illusion or something else. Why would Mary visit us with messages from God ?Why not Jesus who is more important than Mary ? Six children have each been given 10 messages(or secrets )about future events.starting from 1981. When the time is right ,each seer gives a message to a priest 3 days before the event is supposed to happen. It is getting close for the last messages to be given.[1981 to ? ] They are about the chastisement of the world.Mary says "convert yourselves as quickly as possible ,those who are alive after the great sign in the sky has come, will have little time for conversion."
Fact,or fiction.?

I do not dwell on the future. All those years of growing up under threat of a nuclear attack by the Ruski's leave a person, well, not caring about what MIGHT happen. If a person dwelt upon "what ifs", one would not be able to function.
I realize there are a lot of legends, whatever, declaring something or other will happen... First problem is, people can NOT come to a conclusion about what calendar is correct.
Read Revelations; it is a revelation.
Realistically, there are so many factors; war keeps getting worse and worse. But, don't dwell upon it.

does no one examine anymore? the mayans had 3 calendars and each and each of them are designed to repeat after each and each cycle, some thing like a modern-day day calendar. all this "international gonna end" bit is in order that stupid. i cant have self belief such an excellent style of human beings are paying for into it. and no one looks to have any theories on basically "how" its going to end. what? is the earth basically going to spontaneously combust? whoa! 1000's of human beings imagine so so it should be genuine (sarcasm doesnt paintings as efectively ovr the internet). its a lifeless ringer for that entire Y2K computer virus all those years in the past. undergo in concepts how loopy human beings went about that? what change into the rumor: that a line of code wasnt positioned and it would want to point the end of electrical energy perpetually? i imagine it change into some thing alongside those lines, how stupid does that sound, eh? now use a similar type of wondering with reference to this modern-day rumor: a collection of previous stones "someplace" say "some thing" about the international ending, oh wait no, it change into the actual undeniable actuality that the clendar stops. the mayans the position especially stronger even as it got here to detemining movements of the solar and moon yet come on! those calendars the position designed round crop movements better than some thing. and what if im incorrect? if this apocalypse is as enormous as everybody is makign it out to be then theres no longer going to be any genuine reason to run everywhere with the aid of the undeniable fact which will be destroyed too. kae sera sera.

http://www.coasttocoastam.com radio (click on "Affilitates" button for local station) has already scheduled a four-hour program on that date, with perhaps a dozen leading interpretators of the Mayan calendar, prophecy, etc. They also presently schedule occasional guests speaking on the topic.
You might also enjoy "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, "Men in White Apparel" and "Watch Your Dreams," Ann Ree Colton, "Light Is a Living Spirit" and "The Yoga of Nutrition," O. M. Aivanhov, "The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", Free and Wilcock http://www.divinecosmos.com (has some references to 2012 on this site), "Extraordinary Knowing," Dr. Mayer, "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, Ph.D., and so on.

Even if you had the answers...what would you do with them? If there are things you'd change about your life and the way you live it if you knew your time was limited...then do it anyway, even if it's not. What would be the difference?
