Jeez, there is so many of them. The Everglades has a very diverse ecosystem (none like it anywhere else) and all forms of life have adapted in order to survive. One of the most unusual looking and the most populous in the glades is the "mangrove" tree. Their roots project out from the water in an arching formation. They can drop long seed pods that land in the water and stick in the mud, and new trees will sprout out in short order. In fact, there is areas that are called the mangrove forests. One variety sends up a long breathing tube that extends out of the water. It takes in air from above the water to get away from the toxic mud from which it grows. Quite unique to say the least. Yep, my vote would have to be the Mangrove Tree.

Another tree, which is somewhat like mistletoe, and appropriately named... "Strangler Fig" grows from undigested seeds dropped by birds under a tree. The seeds germinate, and the plant begins to wrap around the trunk of the host tree. Eventually it overtakes the whole tree, suffocates, and kills it. Wow, what a way to go! The funniest named tree in the glades would have to go to a skinny little thing called "Gumbo Limbo"..lol I rest my case! Iam providing a link to some plants of the Everglades along with info on the ones I have touched on for you to read up on. You can decide which one is truly the most unusual. Hope this answers your question. Good Luck!
