Well, without going into the "no-kill traps" question, I've heard that peanut butter works as well, or better than cheese. It's the best answer I can offer, though I've never tried it myself.

Ha ha. The trick really is cheese whiz. The mice try to get it all out and that's what will get em for sure. I am batting a thousand. Not mice but a few.

I don't use cheese because a careful mouse can just lift if off the trap.
Try peanut butter. It sticks so that the mouse must put its front paws on it, which of course, springs the trap.
Not that I've ever had many mice, mind you....................LOL!

I do not use cheese. I use peanut butter. It is a lot harder for the mice to run away with it & so they are more likely to be caught.

Mice are cute, but I don't want them in my house. We always use peanut butter, not cheese. I always have to use traps that kill them, which is kind of sad, because if not, they will manage to find their way back.

I've heard that peanut butter attracts mice better than cheese.
I use poison pellets and wipe out a whole nest at once , it works for me, but you do find dehydrated mice behind things later on. (D-Con, I think is the brand name I used to use)
