I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on the 23rd.

It was a vaginal delivery, no pain medicine, no epidural. I'm starting to heal but I'm very against any pain medicine while nursing. The stitches don't hurt so much any more, but it's so uncomfortable.

Do any of you have tips on how to relieve the muscle soreness and achy stitched area??

I don't like using any kind of medication, even if it's "safe". No tylenoll or medicated spray.

Maybe I'm just being silly but it makes me nervous.

I too was like you. I denied point blank to use any medications, make-up or anything with chemicals during the pregnancy. But I gave in on my last weeks, and used Tylenol and it's completely safe. If not, you may try a sitz bath. They usually give you one in the hospital. It's basically spraying warm water down there and relief the pain. For me it didn't work at all. You may also try these methods, no meds.

You may also try this one, is very long but it has pretty much everything on natural methods to help you heal naturally or with safe to use herbs.

Hope this helps you! And that you have a promt recovery, and believe me I know what you're going tru and it's horrible but it will pass. Congratulations on your baby girl!

Tylenol is okay, just like when you were pregnant. As for the stitches, didn't they give you the numbing spray and some hemorrhoid pads to help soothe the area. Good luck!

You can put a bit of water on a maxi pad and throw it in the freezer. After it's frozen, wear it and it feels like an ice pack down there and it lasts for hours. It sounds weird but it works and takes away the itching too.

Two things that work and one that I am told works There is a tea called throat cote you can get in the health food section of most supermarkets and heath food stores. I really makes a huge difference. Drank gallons of it when I had laryngitis. Ginger tea, works, but not as well as the throat cote black licorice, I am told it works, but since I can't stand the taste of it, so I have not tried it. good luck,

try using some of that pain numbing spray...the nurses at the hospital gave that to me while i was there. Its a topical analgesic so its not ingested and it really does numb the area. You can find it at any pharmacy.

Other than a hot bath or shower, or heating pad, I don't know what else to tell you if you're against meds. Maybe alternating ice and heat?
