Well, Nigel is a British name. And Nigel Bruce was a regular player in British movies for a long time, even before I was born. He played Doctor Watson in Sherlock Holmes movies for a long, long time, with Basil Rathbone as Holmes. He was a sort of blustery rotund man, who came across as rather likable and loveable. He was Cary Grant's best friend in "Suspicion," a Hitchcock picture that apparently made a crucial change from the book from which it was derived. Not willing to turn Cary into a complete murderer, rather than only a "possible" one, that was driving Joan Fontaine bonkers, they made a complete switch at the final moment and she is relieved to find her "suspicions" were (gasp) unfounded. (Kiss, kiss, hug) The End.

It's a cute name, but unforutunately the only two Nigels I think of are Nigel from Frasier (who was a little fruity) and Nigel from Devil Wears Prada.
I forgot about Nigel from America's Top Model! He's a good one!

Nigel, sounds like an old Englishman. lol I mean I hear that name and see some white haired old pale white man, in a rose garden sipping on tea and talking about the weather and economy. =)

It sounds full-on British.
If that's not you or the baby, I'd say "no" to Nigel. It sounds like a real wuss name to me.....
BTW, folks, the guy on "Frasier" was Niles, not Nigel.

When I was about 14 I remember thinking that was such a cool name. I swore I would name my son that...............then I grew up and my son is not named Nigel. I think it is an OK name but I wouldn't use it.

here in australia, and possibly the UK as well, we use nigel as a term for nerd, or people get called 'Nigel No Friends', so with those associations, i can't possibly say i like it!
