Here is the problem:
Everything around you is made up of atoms. Atoms are extremely small. An atom is about two millionth of an inch in diameter. Write this number in standard form and then in scientific notation.

I'll give 10 points (if I ever figure out how to...) and best answer to the person who helps me with this question and doesn't give me a stupid answer.

Two millionths is .000002 in standard (decimal) notation. In scientific notation a number is written as a number between 1 and 10 multiplied by a power of 10. In this example,
.000002 = 2 x 10 ^ -6

0.1 = tenth
0.01 = hundredth
0.001 = thousandths
etc.
0.000001 = millionths

So in standard form you would have:
0.000002

This is 2 millionths.

To convert to scientific notation, write the first non-zero digit (2) then times 10 to a power. The power is equal to the number of places that you had to move the decimal point. If you move it left it is positive. In this case you have to move it right 6 places, so it will be -6.

Scientific notation:
2 x 10^-6

It's harder with "millionths" because we have to think about it. But if you relate it to millions, think about how many zeroes are in a million. There are 6. So in millionths, the exponent will be -6. And in standard notation, the number will be in the 6th spot after the decimal point.

the respond won't be able to be c, when you consider that clinical notation purely makes use of powers of 10 authentic numbers from a million to 9. in case you progression the decimal place back to the a million.12, you will discover that it has moved 10 decimal places. Likewise, in case you count huge style the zeroes AND the 12 in a million.12, you in addition to mght get 10. for this reason, the respond is "a", or a million.12 x 10^10
