Have you thought about satelite internet I have Wild blue and have 5 computers connected with fast download times (1.2mb) and have had it running for two years with no problems. Upfront cost is about $250 and plans start at $45-$80 a month for this service. There are at least 3 satelite services that I know of : Hughes, Galaxy and Wild Blue.
My Wild blue service does NOT require a phone line. I don't even have a landline phone. The Qwest phone service where I live is so bad that when it rains the line goes dead so I needed internet that does not depend on a landline. For phone service I use my cell phone and an external antenna.

Yes you can. There are three different ways: mobile, satellite, and stand-alone. Mobile you can get from Verizon, Sprint, .... all of the cell phone carriers. It plugs into a USB port on your computer, so you can plug it into your laptop or desktop. The good thing about this is that it is mobile, you can use it wherever you go as long as it is connected to your computer and you have service in that area. It usually cost $60-65 per month. Satellite is just like satellite tv, it runs through a satellite. You can get it through most phone line carriers, like AT&T. It is the most expensive though, usually around $100 per month. And then there is stand-alone internet. It works through a phone line, but you don't need to activate an actual voice phone line. It runs on a different frequency that voice runs on, so you can have only internet. From AT&T it cost $10 more than the internet package you choose. So say you choose the $30.99 per month DSL, with stand-alone service it will total $40.99 per month. There actually is a fourth way, which is the cheapest and easiest, but not always possible to do. Install a wireless internet card in your computer, then search for an open wireless network. If you can find an open network, connect to it, and you got free internet!!!

You need to buy a wireless router. you can get these at best buy, radio shack, etc. once u have a router you hook the internet cord up to it and then you buy wireless adapters to all your devices that wish to access the wireless internet. Hope that helps :D

Get Virgin Broadband, you don't need a phone line but you need to be in a virgin media cable area. Once you have done that then all you need is a wireless router.

Realistically, Virgin is your only option. All BT type providers require a phone service to operate.
Satellite really needs a phone line for uploading and requesting Internet pages.
