I've already asked this before but I am looking for a better explanation. It is an infinity sign, and looks like part of the right loop is chopped off. What does it mean?

I am taking Grade 11 physics so please don't confuse me too much. Thanks.

It means proportional to.

like in the equation

v = d/t

v (is proportional to) d

and v (is proportional to) 1/t

in other words, if you increase d, you increase v, or if you increase t you decrease v.

hope that helps.
