I am in PENSIVE mood tonight. Whenever I feel this way I think of you, MY DEAR, DEAR YOU. I smile recalling how you used to laugh when I would tease you, pretending I didn't remember your name. Of course, from the first time I heard it, I never forgot your name.

I recall the day we met at the political rally. You impressed me with your INDEPENDENT thinking and passion for your beliefs. Somewhere between the time I first asked you a question and we finished a long discussion, you stole my heart and I willingly let you do so.

I remember the day we hiked to the top of the mountain outside of town. Four hours it took. I was worn out after two, but you would not let me quit. Then, standing at the top, looking down on the world below us, you told me your dreams for the future, our future, and said "DREAM MY DREAM WITH ME."

We were almost never apart after that. You were the HEART OF MY HEART for over 40 years, and remain so even now.

The day we learned how little time we had left together in this world, you were the one who was strong, despite your weakened physical state, while I was simply confused and dazed. "How am I supposed to go on without you? I don't think I CAN DO IT" I cried in my mind. But you held my hand and explained to me that LOVE NEVER DIES and how you would still be with me always. How our shared life and love will echo down the canyons of time through our children and friends, and their children, endlessly touching the world long after we are both gone.

So sitting on the porch remembering our days together, I know I'M NOT REALLY ALONE. You are with me as truly as the gentle breeze that cools me. I only need close my eyes to see you sitting there and feel your hand in mind again. So sit with me darling for a few hours and give strength as you did for so many years. In time, I will come to join you and we can at last be together forever.
