Either without the other makes you a less valuable job candidate. You will hear those who have experience but no degree bemoan that they can't get a good job without a degree and you will hear those with a degree and no experience bemoan that they can't get a good job without the experience.

Reality is that most job seekers are not 18-21 years old - you're competing for jobs with people who have a college degree and work experience. Some have a master's degree and ten years of experience.

Now, considering that, why would my company hire someone who has 4 years of experience but no college education for a management position when I can hire someone with 10 years of experience and a master's degree?

If you look at those "management" jobs in retail that you'd get with no degree and 4 years time on the floor; they're misleading you by calling it "xyz assistant manager", it's really "head cashier" and nothing more. It pays really close to what a cashier makes - not too sweet.

Don't let yourself be fooled into thinking that there's an easy route - how about this, go to the uni and get a degree while you work in retail for 4-5 years... Then you have something to offer an employer that is worth a penny or two.

i would probably say work experience because that shows that you are well skilled you are trained to do anything and you have done it before, so it is easy for you to do anything.

qualifications not because it just shows that you are the right person for the job and the skill of the job fits your personality.

so work experience is better than qualifications thats what i think.
