1. 5> p + 2

First you subtract 2 to the other side

5-2 > p - 2

Equaling 3 > p

2. -3 + y < -(2+3y)
First distribute the negative on the right side to get

-3 + y < -2 - 3y

Then subtract y from the left side to the right getting

- 3 < -2 - 4y

Then add 2 from the right side the left getting

-1 < -4y

Now divide by -4 (when you divide by a negative the greater then switches to less than or visa versa)

Getting 1/4 > y

3. 84- 3a < 0

Add 3a to the right side to get

84 < 3a

Divide by 3 to get

38 < a

4. 3/4 m < 18

First multiply each side by 4 (to get ride of the 4 under the 3) to get

3m < 72

Then divide by 3 om each side to get

m < 24

Solve these exactly like you would solve any equation- EXCEPT when you must either multiply or divide by a negative number. If that happens, just reverse the direction of the inequality sign.

Ex.
5> p + 2
5-2 > p
3 > p

84 - 3a < 0
-3a < -84 (Now divide both sides by -3)
a > 28

Just work the others the same way.
Good Luck

Hello,

1) 5 > p + 2 subtract 2 from both sides
3 > p

2) -3 + y <= -(2 + 3y) so -3 + y <= -2 -3y now add 3y to both sides giving us -3 + 4y <= -2 and subtract 3 from both sides and we have 4y = 1 now divide both sidea by 4 ; y <= 1/4

3) 84 - 3a < 0 add 3a to both sides giving us 84 < 3a divide both sides by 3 and we have 24 < a

4) 3/4 m < 18 multiply both sides by 4/3 giving us m = 24

Hope This Helps!!!

5 > p+2= 5-2 > p+2-2 = 3>p
84-3a<0 = 84-84-3a<0-84 = -3/-3a<0/-3 = a>0
(3/4)/(3/4)m<18/(3/4) = m<24

"5 > p + 2"

Subtract the two on both sides so you get
3 > p <--Answer

"-3 + y < (with a line underneath) - (2+3y)"

First distribute the negative on the right side. so you get
-3+y <= -2-3y.

Then plus 3y to each side to cancel it out on the right side and combine it with the left so now you have
-3+4y <= -2

Now add 3 to the left side to cancel that out and add 3 to the right side so you get
4y <= 1
Now divide by 4 and you get y>= 1/4

"84 - 3a <0"
Subtract 84 on both sides. So you get -3a<0
and then divide by -3 on both sides and which cancels it out on the left side. So you get a<28.

"3/4 m < 18"
start by canceling out the 3/4 on the left side by dividing it by its reciprical 4/3 and multiply 4/3 to the other side to. So you get
m<24
