News forecasters seem to be holding back a few facts of reality on the world wide drought

What world-wide drought? No drought here. Had 969 mm of total precipitation in the past 12 months (I looked it up just for you), which is pretty well bang on normal (950-1000 mm, or about a meter per year in this area between the great lakes and the Atlantic ocean (St Lawrence River valley)).

South Florida has had water restrictions in place for a number of months. We've had some showers and downpours, but the overall level of Lake Okechobee (our reservoir) is at an all-time low and has been for several years.

mid usa no! record rains this summer really didnt have that much of a summer cause of the rain.
