Why have Hope?

“The Grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” -Allan K. Chalmers

Why do we hope? We use it almost everyday. Whether it’s getting a good grade on a test, getting to a destination safely, or not getting yelled at. You are always going to hope for something in your life.
Hope is of the Old English origin. Meaning expectation; belief.
Hope is believing anything can happen. Your hope is like confidence is ways. It can boost up your mood when you feel something bad is going to happen.

Say you’re running for class president and you really want to win. You hope that you are going to win. When they are starting to announce their new class president, you lean forward in your seat; your heart is beating so hard you think it’s about ready to erupt. You have such hope that you’re going to win, you want this so much.
Hope can go both ways however, such as hopeful and hopeless. Most people want to be hopeful is faith of something good happening. However some people are just hopeless when they have a problem or something is really bugging them.
Having hope doesn’t always mean something good is going to come out of it. Examples are, Christmas is coming soon, lots of children are hoping for Wiis. Not every kid is going to get one, but they are hoping they are one of the lucky few to get one.

Being hopeful is having a good outlook into the future. Every single person in this world is hoping for something. I know my mom is hoping for my sister to come hope from Iraq. Many other moms are hoping the same thing. Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen though. Hope is sometimes one of those non-spoken prayers. Everyone wants it but no one is willing to state it.
But all is all, hope is wishing and dreaming. Something good and something bad will all come from hope.
