I am a trumpet player by trade. Before I enlisted in the Navy in 1992, I wanted to major in Music Performance. In 1995, I lost my hearing!

I have a special Cochlear Hearing Implant. Due to the damage to my ear, I cannot hear music, anymore. It all sounds the same... like rythmic static. Talking to people, they all sound like the adults in the "Charlie Brown" cartoons, "Waa-waa wa."

Because I was so advanced in music, I got back into the local community band, but played in the percussion setion, instead!

In 2005, at Christmas, (the 10th ann. of my hearing loss) I played "Little Drummer Boy" while singing a capella. My mom almost cried!

I play the piano, the violin, and the recorder (in music class anyway). My favorite is the violin though.
