Unsolicited or inexperienced advice really, really pisses me off. By "unsolicited" I mean, for example, at the grocery store, I have been privy to comments on my diet, how to discipline my children, what conditioner to use, and whether I should send my kids to school or teach them at home. All from complete strangers. And this was just today.

"Inexperienced advice" makes me even more angry, though. I can ignore a stranger and usually just walk away. But, imagine your 33 year old, single girlfriend telling you what she expects from her boyfriends. Or what traits about someone's husband she would never tolerate. What does she possible know about maintaining a relationship? Imagine a person who you know never went to college telling you how to study and manage your time. Take an aunt who never had kids...she wants to tell me when my daughter should be weaned, when my son should be potty-trained, the list goes on and on.

The latter is definitely harder to deal with, though. You know a person doesn't have a clue because you KNOW them, but you don't want to alienate your entire office or family. So I bite my tongue. And wait for someone else to give them a fat lip, because I know that's the only way they'll shut up.

Pretty sad.
