Diversity used to mean diverse backgrounds, which included people from different groups such as:

Socioeconomic
Gender
Racial
THOUGHT
Geography
Education
Personality

Now diversity means only one thing: MORE BLACK PEOPLE. I'll give you an example. My boss said management was pushing us to get more diversity on our team, so I gave him resumes of people from diverse things from all of the items listed above. He said to me, "Uh, this wasn't what they meant. We need to find a few black people to hire. That's what they were looking for"

How and when did this term get perverted?

That's not diversity -- that's called "affirmative action." I do not believe in it at all. The very best person for the job should be hired -- even if he is purple. This practice is backfiring. People are resentful because they are losing jobs to blacks that are not as well qualified as they are. PLease note -- if the black applicant is better qualified he SHOULD get the job. But hiring for the sake of "evening things out" is perverse.

I'm not going to address your point about 'opposing straight white guys,' since I assume you are one and therefore your view will be coloured by that placement in society. However, as to the usage of climate change: if you are wondering about why climate change instead of global warming, that is because global warming is inaccurate. There will not just be a rise in temperatures, but multiple drastic changes in climate all around the world. That is why it is called climate change. Yes, it has something to do with placing blame on human beings, because human beings ARE to blame - nearly 100% of experts agree on that.

the answer is in your question "racial"... there you go... nothing has changed... "racial" includes black people... I think the most qualified person should always get the job... but that obviously isn't the case.... look at how we choose our president .. ( in the U.S ) .. the richest guy who's not gay, black or athiest wins....

I don't think the word meaning has become 'perverted'. In the cases you're talking about what is meant is racial diversity, which is included in your definition.

The term is not perverted, the word itself hasn't changed.

Your boss is using it wrong.

He should have said "Hire more persons of color."
